About

Hey, I’m Nigel Ong Ph.D, from Brevity SEO.

Most ‘About’ pages are boring as f**k.

So I’m going to try to inject something fun here.

Il’l talk about how I went from an aspiring academic into an SEO enthusiast.

A New Chapter

When I graduated with my Ph.D a couple of years ago, I was left with the question…

‘What’s next?’

I’ve already decided that I:

  • Don’t want to climb the academia ladder (painful goodbye to my professor dream)
  • Don’t want to play daddy yet (too young for that)
  • Don’t wanna dance or eat Mukbang on TikTok (not going to be an influencer)

So I thought I’ll start some side project while I plan my next move.

But what do I want to do?

Blogging & Writing

I knew I could write (heck, my Ph.D thesis was 80,000 words long), and…

I know I could research & analyze sh*t (it does takes a bit of brain juice to get Ph.D level research & data analysis done)

So I thought, why not write for people?

I started offering article writing service on Project 24 forums.

I figure I can research and read up about topics my clients want me to write about, and then produce blog articles for them.

That lead me into writing about all sorts of topics (many I have zero ideas about):

  • Sublimation
  • Bruder toys
  • Project management
  • Solar panels
  • iGaming
  • Garage improvement
  • and tons more.

Once I got the hang of writing blog articles (eg. listicles, how-to guides, X vs Y), I wanted to offer more help to my clients.

That lead me into learning how to:

  • efficiently turn YouTube videos into blog posts, and
  • publishing articles on website for my clients (in ways that maximizes their on-page SEO potential)

I later eventually even worked out how to hand-build and design a website from scratch – domains, DNS, WordPress, themes, plugins, all that shebang.

When ChatGPT came out, I worked out a system (inspired by an excellent client of mine), to create SEO-optimized blog posts, using a wide variety of AI and SEO tools.

This process speeds up work, allowing me to bill my clients at a lower rate, yet producing more articles for them.

As they run out of article ideas, I started offering services to help with keyword research, helping them to find low competition, high volume keywords for easy ranking opportunities.

To further serve my clients, I also learned how to audit their website’s SEO, and to help improve their website’s on-page performance. Here’s a case study.

BrevitySEO website content writing services - case study
0 to 1,000+ monthly organic visits on a brand new site in 3 months, without active backlinking

Fast forward to today, I run BrevitySEO.com, offering my SEO services to clients all over the world.

Will you be next?

How Can I Help?

If you are here, chances are you are looking for some help with your website. Here’s how I can help:

Website Audit: If you need someone to help take a look at your website and identify opportunities to improve traffic and ranking, I use professional SEO tools to scan, and report back to you with suggestions.

On-Page SEO: I look at the website audit report, and perform optimization on the pages on your website, so that your website maximizes its on-page ranking opportunities. This is a good thing to do before you start exploring off-page SEO.

Keyword Research: If you want to grow organic traffic to your website, identifying related, high volume, low difficulty keyword is a good way. I’ll run keyword research identifying these, and report back to you with a list.

Article Writing & Publishing: I use my proprietary process to produce SEO-optimized articles, lay them into your website in ways that will maximize its on-page ranking opportunities, and publish them for you.
